In a context of geopolitical tensions disrupting global supply chains, ICL Group is taking a new step in its international expansion. The Israeli company, listed on both the NYSE and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, has announced the opening of a new specialty fertilizers production facility in the state of Maharashtra, India.
This expansion comes at a critical time for the country, which remains heavily dependent on fertilizer imports. Recent disruptions to global trade, particularly those linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, have already begun to impact the availability of fertilizers worldwide. Over time, these tensions could weigh on food security across many regions.
In response to these challenges, ICL is pursuing a clear strategy: bringing production closer to high-growth markets. This new facility is fully aligned with the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative, aimed at strengthening the country’s industrial self-reliance.
The site will produce next-generation water-soluble fertilizers (WSF), designed to optimize nutrient delivery and improve agronomic efficiency. These solutions enable more precise, sustainable, and productive agriculture—an essential priority in a country where agricultural demand continues to grow.
According to market data, the water-soluble fertilizers sector in India is experiencing strong double-digit annual growth, confirming the strategic potential of this segment. By improving access to these technologies, ICL aims to support Indian farmers in adopting more efficient agricultural practices, while contributing to long-term food security.

Spanning nearly seven acres (approximately 28,000 square meters), the new facility replicates the advanced production model already implemented by the group in Israel.
Present in India for more than thirty years, ICL already generates approximately $250 million in annual revenue in the country. This new infrastructure further strengthens its long-standing presence and deepens relationships with local partners.
