The very first International Festival of Animation, Comics, and Caricature, organized in Rahat in the Negev, will take place on August 26th and 27th from 10 AM to 8 PM at the city's cultural palace. Established by Foad Ziadna, the community center director, Marai Ktnani, the cultural director, Daniel Alter, the artistic director, and Galit Barski, the producer, this event marks the largest festival of its kind ever held in Israel.
Inspired by Tel Aviv's Animax Festival, it will feature top artists and creators from across the country. A diverse program including film screenings, workshops, and meetings with leading Israeli and international artists will be offered to visitors. Additionally, exhibitions and the country's largest comic book market will be held over the two days.
"Alongside Galit Barski, the festival producer whom I've known for 40 years, we conceived the idea of collaborating with Tel Aviv's Animax Festival to bring it to Rahat. We decided to produce unique opening and closing celebratory events for the public. This festival adds to the many festivals we organize in Rahat, known as the cultural and artistic hub of the Negev," stated Daniel Alter to Itonnews.
Many visitors of all ages from across the country are expected to discover the best of the latest creations in comics, caricature, and animation, both from Israel and internationally.
"We are delighted and proud to host the first International Festival of Animation, Comics, and Cartoons in Rahat and in the Arab society. This marks a significant step in promoting culture and art in the region and in bridging between different communities and cultures through art. This festival is part of the cultural revolution we are leading in Rahat, aiming to establish the city as a vibrant cultural hub," stated Marai Ktnani to Itonnews.
"In recent years, we have invested significant efforts in developing the fields of culture and art in the city, and we see this festival as the culmination of that process. We believe that this event will contribute to promoting art among the younger generation and inspire them to continue on this path," he continued.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities for a modest fee of 20 shekels per film or workshop.
