Israel: innovative technology against dry eyes

More than 300 million people worldwide suffer from dry eye disease (DED) and many more suffer from digital eye strain (DES), also known as computer vision syndrome. To overcome this problem, the Israeli startup BlinkAid, founded in 2022 by Raz Karl, has developed a unique non-invasive technology.

BlinkAid uses the eyeglass frame as a platform. Technology built into users' glasses monitors blink frequency and quality to compensate for inappropriate blinks using high-resolution nerve stimulation technology.

This new wearable technology works to prevent and alleviate dry eye syndromes, mainly experienced after prolonged use of screens. Israeli startup BlinkAid is the first to use glasses to treat dry eye symptoms via the natural mechanism of blinking.

The market for artificial tears for dry eye has already reached $4.6 billion and is expected to exceed $6 billion by 2027. BlinKaid's revolutionary technology is therefore expected to bring relief to millions of people affected by dry eye.
