Israeli manufacturer Meprolight, a member of the SK Group and a global reference in military electro-optical systems, continues to secure export successes. The company has announced the signing of a new contract with the armed forces of a Southern European country for the supply of its advanced MVO™ 1-8x28 riflescopes. This acquisition further strengthens the international momentum of the MVO line and highlights the growing demand for Israeli-developed targeting solutions.

Designed for demanding operational environments, the MVO™ 1-8x28 falls within the LPVO category—low-power variable optics that have become essential for dynamic engagements at short and medium range. Built to MIL-SPEC standards, the scope features a 34 mm main tube that is fully waterproof and fog-proof, engineered to withstand extreme field conditions.

One of the model’s key strengths is its multilayer German SCHOTT glass, which delivers over 92% light transmission. This ensures exceptionally sharp imaging, even in low light, mirage conditions, or intense glare. Its optical architecture provides constant eye relief, a forgiving eye box, and a wide field of view—three critical attributes for maintaining situational awareness in fast-paced or chaotic scenarios.

The MVO™ 1-8x28 also incorporates dual-color reticle illumination—red or green—with eight brightness levels, NVG compatibility, an automatic shutoff after 12 hours, and a smooth zoom ring that can be fitted with a throw lever. Windage and elevation adjustments were validated through live-fire testing, ensuring stable and repeatable accuracy.

According to Meprolight, the European military customer will deploy these optics to enhance precision, target acquisition speed, and operational effectiveness across various mission profiles. The versatility of the LPVO allows soldiers to transition instantly between close-quarters engagements and more precise medium-range shots, all while maintaining clear vision in shifting weather or tactical conditions.

“Armed forces require optics that deliver stability, clarity, and ruggedness under extreme constraints, and the MVO series consistently proves its value in those environments,” said Golan Kalimi, Senior Vice President at Meprolight. “We are proud to support this European partner by providing a solution that enables its soldiers to operate with confidence and precision, even in the toughest conditions.”

Based in Israel and with more than 39 million products sold worldwide, Meprolight has established itself as one of the global leaders in military optical systems. Its portfolio includes magnified optics, rifle and pistol sights, laser pointers, night-vision devices, thermal cameras, and tritium-based self-illuminated systems. Its products are deployed by military and security forces in more than 60 countries.

This new contract underscores a clear trend: European armies, facing rapidly intensifying operational requirements, are increasingly turning to Israeli technologies to enhance their targeting and observation capabilities.
