The Israeli army is continuing its modernization efforts with the purchase of additional NEGEV UX machine guns for a total of 67 million shekels (approximately 20 million dollars). This new investment by the IDF in Israel Weapon Industries (IWI)—a subsidiary of the SK Group and a global leader in small arms manufacturing—follows the army’s operational performance in the war against its enemies since the tragic events of October 7, 2023.

Developed in close collaboration with the Israeli armed forces, the NEGEV UX 7.62 mm machine gun has proven to be highly effective in the field. Weighing only 6.8 kg, it stands out for its high rate of fire, outstanding reliability, enhanced accuracy, and reduced recoil. Equipped with a semi-automatic fire mode, it combines maneuverability and durability—key features in the varied operational environments faced during the war against Hamas.

"We are proud to support the Israeli army with reliable and high-performance weapons systems that protect our country and our people. Seeing the IDF expand its use of the NEGEV confirms the value of this system, recognized by one of the most experienced armies in the world," stated Ronen Hamudot, Vice President of the SK Group.

Whether in fast-paced engagements, urban warfare, or close-quarters combat, the NEGEV UX has emerged as a ground-force multiplier, offering an optimal balance of light weight, mobility, and lethality.

The weapon features advanced modular design. It includes a long Picatinny rail for various optics and accessories, compatibility with multiple suppressors developed by IWI, a telescopic stock, an M-LOK rail for additional attachments, and a two-position gas regulator designed to ensure optimal performance even in extreme conditions such as mud or sand.

Capable of operating in both semi-automatic and fully automatic modes, it is suited for close-quarters urban combat as well as accurate suppressive fire at medium to long range.

The agreement also includes a comprehensive maintenance program to ensure a high level of operational readiness over the long term. The new weapons will be delivered to IDF ground units between 2026 and 2027.

Present in over 60 countries, IWI is a trusted supplier to armed forces, special units, and law enforcement agencies around the world. Its battle-proven weapons are designed to meet evolving operational needs and emerging threats.
